One of the most common misconceptions about the Zoho for Startups programme is that it is a discount code. It is not. It is a two-stage wallet credit, worth up to ₹1.86 lakh, and a meaningful number of eligible founders only ever claim the first stage — either because they do not know the second stage exists, or because they miss the window it comes with. This post covers exactly how the programme works, the two eligibility paths, and the application steps, verified directly against Zoho's own official programme page.
How the Credit Actually Works
| Stage | Amount | How It Unlocks |
|---|---|---|
| Stage 1 | ₹1,00,000 | Issued on approval, usable across Zoho One, CRM Plus, Marketing Plus, Workplace and other bundles or standalone apps |
| Stage 2 | ₹86,000 | Unlocked by hosting your domain through Zoho Mail within 15 days of receiving Stage 1 |
| Total | ₹1,86,000 | Valid for 360 days from the date Stage 1 credits are issued |
The 15-day window is the detail most founders miss. It is counted from the day Stage 1 credits land, not from whenever you get around to setting up domain hosting. Miss it, and the ₹86,000 Stage 2 credit simply expires unclaimed — there is no extension or second chance.
Eligibility: Two Separate Paths
Path 1 — DPIIT recognition
Hold a DPIIT recognition certificate from Startup India. See our guides on what DPIIT recognition unlocks and how to apply for it if you do not have it yet.
Path 2 — Zoho collaborator ecosystem
Be registered with one of Zoho's collaborator incubators, accelerators, or coworking spaces. This path does not require DPIIT recognition at all — if your startup works with a partner incubator, this may be the faster route.
Both paths also require
Being a new or free Zoho user with no active or previous paid subscription history, and no prior credit benefit from Zoho One or Zoho Wallet. The benefit is one-time per startup — claimed once, not renewable.
How to Apply, Step by Step
Step 1 — Sign up as a Zoho user
Visit zoho.com/startups and create a Zoho account if you do not already have one. If you have an existing free account, use that same email address throughout the process.
Step 2 — Complete the founders registration form
Fill in your startup details, and provide either your DPIIT recognition number or your collaborator ecosystem enabler details, depending on which eligibility path applies to you.
Step 3 — Watch for the acknowledgement email
Expect an acknowledgement within roughly 10 minutes of submitting. Validation follows — for the DPIIT path, applications are only processed once Zoho receives confirmation from the Startup India point of contact, so this step can take a little longer than the initial acknowledgement suggests.
Step 4 — Receive Stage 1 credits
Once approved, log in using the same primary email address you applied with, and check your Zoho Subscription page or store.zoho.com to see the credits reflected.
Step 5 — Set up domain hosting for Stage 2, within 15 days
Host your domain through Zoho Mail within 15 days of Stage 1 landing to unlock the additional ₹86,000. This is the step most founders leave too late.

Talk to an Expert → Book a Call Today →What the Credits Can and Cannot Be Used For
- Zoho Mail and Zoho Workplace can only be purchased using Stage 1 credits, capped at a ₹1 lakh limit during the offer period. Stage 2 credits specifically cannot be used for either.
- Most other Zoho applications — Zoho One, CRM, Books, Projects, and 55+ apps in total — can be purchased with credits from either stage.
- A specific list of products is excluded entirely: Zoho Voice, Zoho Start, the Zoho Sign API plan, Zoho Campaigns pay-as-you-go, Zoho Domains, Zoho Backstage, Qntrl, Vikra, TrainerCentral, Zakya, ManageEngine products, and premium or enterprise support, onboarding and training.
- Unused credits expire and are not refundable. They also cannot be encashed under any circumstances — use them or lose them within the 360-day validity window.
A Higher Tier for Award Winners and Seed Fund Recipients
Winners of the National Startup Awards and startups funded through the Startup India Seed Fund Scheme (SISFS) may be eligible for an enhanced credit tier beyond the standard ₹1.86 lakh, at Zoho and Startup India's discretion. If your startup falls into either category, it is worth checking directly rather than assuming the standard tier is your ceiling.
Frequently Asked Questions
Once Your Credits Land
Credits solve the cost of getting started. What they do not solve is configuration — a Zoho One or CRM setup funded by startup credits still needs a correct chart of accounts, the right module structure, and workflows built around how your business actually runs, or the credits get spent on a system that needs rework within a year.
Zoho, configured properly from the credits onward
Zoho One, Zoho Books and Zoho CRM, set up correctly the first time so your credits fund a system you will not need to rebuild.
