Common problems we fix

What goes wrong when a US startup
uses a general bookkeeper.

✕
Annual SaaS contracts booked as full revenue on invoice date — deferred revenue never set up
✕
Stripe deposits recorded as revenue — fees, refunds and chargebacks never separated
✕
Sales tax nexus not tracked — liability accumulating in states where company is now registered by law
✕
Chart of accounts generic — P&L shows nothing useful by product line or revenue type
✕
No board pack — founder manually building slides from spreadsheets the night before the call
✕
Books 3–4 months behind when investor due diligence starts — restatement needed
After Khetanca
Deferred revenue schedule in place from month one. P&L shows recognised revenue only. Balance sheet deferred revenue reconciled every close. ASC 606 compliant.

After Khetanca

Frequently Asked Questions

What accounting does a US C-Corp need?+
A Delaware C-Corp needs US GAAP bookkeeping, federal corporate income tax return (Form 1120), Delaware franchise tax, state income tax where applicable, payroll filings (940, 941) if you have employees, 1099-NEC for contractors, and sales tax returns in states where you have nexus. If you have investors, add ASC 606 revenue recognition, deferred revenue tracking, and monthly board reporting. Khetanca manages all of this in QuickBooks Online or Zoho Books.
Do I need sales tax registration in every US state I sell in?+
After South Dakota v. Wayfair (2018), physical presence is no longer required to create sales tax nexus. Most states now use economic nexus thresholds — typically $100,000 in sales or 200 transactions in a 12-month period. Once you exceed that threshold, you are required to collect and remit sales tax in that state. For SaaS companies, taxability varies by state — some states exempt SaaS, others tax it fully. We monitor nexus thresholds and handle registration and filing in each applicable state.
What is transfer pricing for a US company with a global team?+
When your US entity contracts with a related entity in another country for services — engineering in India, operations in UAE — the price charged must be at arm's length. Both the IRS and the foreign tax authority can challenge the pricing if it looks like profits are being shifted to a low-tax jurisdiction. Intercompany service agreements should be in place before the first invoice. We structure intercompany billing correctly and ensure the US entity books the expense at the right amount.
Can you manage US startup accounting from outside the US?+
Yes. US bookkeeping and accounting is entirely cloud-based — QuickBooks Online and Zoho Books work the same from anywhere. Bank feeds pull transactions automatically. Documents are shared digitally. Tax workpapers are prepared and sent to your US CPA for filing. Khetanca manages the accounting; your US CPA files the federal and state returns. Monthly close delivered in 3 days, board pack by day 5, every month.
