Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between cleanup and catch-up bookkeeping?+
Catch-up means posting missing transactions to bring the books current. Cleanup means correcting wrong transactions that are already in the books. Most engagements need both — we do both.
How far back can you clean up QuickBooks?+
We can clean up from any starting point as long as we can obtain bank statements for the period. Most cleanups are 6 to 24 months. Longer periods are quoted separately.
Will you need access to our bank statements?+
Yes. We need bank and credit card statements for every account being reconciled. We also request any prior accountant workpapers if available.
Do you charge by the hour or a fixed price?+
Fixed price, quoted after the review call. Price depends on number of months, number of accounts, and transaction volume — not how many hours it takes us.
What if the previous bookkeeper made incorrect tax entries?+
We flag all tax-impacting reclassifications separately in the change log and advise on whether amended returns may be needed. We do not file returns as part of a cleanup engagement but can provide an income tax review.
Can you clean up books in both QuickBooks Online and Desktop?+
Yes. We clean up QuickBooks Online (all tiers) and QuickBooks Desktop Pro, Premier, and Enterprise. We also convert between QBO and QBD if required.
